Small Business Development Center (SBDC) – San Gabriel Valley Independent Business Consultant assisting small businesses to become more successful for the Small Business Administration SBDC, a free program provided by the Small Business Administration (SBA). Through the SBDC, I consulted with dozens of small businesses, and I initiated the SBDC Master Minds weekly business support group. Through the SBDC and the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, I assist College of the Canyons’ business students to integrate into the Santa Clarita business community.

Health Industries of America (HIA) Responsible for corporate marketing, operations, JCAHO accreditation, training, and strategic planning - HIA had billings in excess of 100 million dollars per year. I was responsible for nearly a thousand employees, three hospitals, two outpatient programs, and six Medicare day treatment programs located in Southern California and South Florida.
California Healthcare Management Services (CHMS) Board member; responsible for corporate strategic planning and marketing; acting CEO for newly acquired hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. CHMS had billings in excess of a $300 million per year. CHMS had more than 2,000 employees. As the corporate marketing director I was responsible for day-to-day marketing; long term strategic planning; marketing research; new target market development; internal marketing systems; JCAHO planning; and corporate acquisitions.
Lawson Multi-Specialty Medical Group (LMMG) Co-founded, owned and operated the Lawson Medical Group with my wife, Yvonne R. Lawson, MD, AAFP. Eight years later, the business was a multi-million dollar enterprise with 10,000 active patients, ten staff and four physicians. The business was sold to Magan Medical Group and used as a buy in for a full partnership position to become one of 19 physician owners of a 100 million dollar Covina based multi-specialty medical group.
